2022 - Understanding the Key Dynamics of Sibling Partnership: Calling Shotgun!
Approximately 50% of family businesses operate or transition to a sibling partnership with mixed results. While the Disney Brothers partnered for success, the Dasslers quickly became competitors known as Adidas and Puma. Join us as we explore how to build a firm foundation for future growth in partnership and in the business with Jenny Dinnen and Katie Rucker of MacKenzie, a sibling partnership and second-generation family business.
MacKenzie was founded by Don Vivrette, their father, in the bonus room of their Orange County home in 1985 to serve a single customer. Celebrating its 35-year anniversary in 2020, MacKenzie is known today for assisting organizations across the country leverage analytics into action and equip brands with the data-driven insights needed to authentically connect and engage with their customers.
We will acknowledge the natural drama and explore best practices of the sister partnership behind the Mackenzie Corporation. The twins will share their story of overcoming their differences to be able to effectively work together to change the culture, transition the senior leadership, and transform their company as co-presidents and owners from a tactical market research organization to a strategic consulting business.
As they share their story of transition and innovation, attendees will understand:
- How to prepare for a transition from Founders Dream to a Sibling Partnership
- The lessons learned in developing a Co-President leadership structure
- Understanding the different generational strategies and how that impacts the succession transition
- Navigating employees' expectations during periods of innovation and leadership change
