2022 - Pitfalls of Strategic Planning
There are many approaches to good strategic planning. As you and your team review your strategic plan or embark on developing a strategy, it may be easier to know how to recognize ways it can fail. In the February FBA session with Dr. Epperson, we looked at family and leadership alignment, or lack thereof, as a core driver of strategic planning success or failure. In the April FBA session, senior advisors with DWH will present and facilitate a case study and interactive session on how to recognize ‘pitfalls’ in strategic planning in awareness, alignment, plan validation, and implementation.
After a brief overview of pitfalls in strategic planning, Ben Borisch and Marcel van der Elst will present a case study and facilitate work sessions where attendees can recognize, name, and develop approaches to avoiding and/or mitigating the effects of ‘pitfalls’ in strategic planning.
Event Takeaways include:
- Understanding and recognizing numerous ways in which strategic planning fails.
- Naming the pitfalls of strategic planning and being able to talk with your family and team about how to avoid them
- The power of stories, experience, and best practices to help teams avoid pitfalls
